A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE OF MR. ROBERT EARL "PETERBO" BANKHEAD AND EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS UPON HIS PASSING.

WHEREAS, Mr. Robert Earl "Peterbo" Bankhead departed this life on Friday, March 5, 1999, causing a great loss to his family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Bankhead, a native of Belzoni, Mississippi, was one of the first graduates of Humphreys County High School in May 1971; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Bankhead is also a graduate of Mississippi Valley State University in Itta Bena, Mississippi, and the Milwaukee Area Technical College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and

WHEREAS, an active member of his community, Mr. Bankhead was a member of the Mississippi Restaurants Association, the Mississippi Board of Supervisors, the Zion Rock Missionary Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the Mississippi Valley State University Alumni; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Bankhead was the proud owner of a restaurant which had excellent food, remarkable service and an almost spotless facility; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Bankhead is survived by his parents, Mr. Walter Bankhead, Sr., and Mrs. Ruby Bankhead, and his two daughters, Mrs. Corine Bankhead Harris and Mrs. Deborah Johnson; and

WHEREAS, joining with the House in expressing deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Mr. Bankhead is Senator Barbara Blackmon, District 21, Mississippi Senate; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives of the State of Mississippi to commend such outstanding Mississippians as Mr. Bankhead, whose positive influence and encouragement will always be remembered:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the life of Mr. Robert Earl "Peterbo" Bankhead and express our deepest sympathy to his family and friends upon his passing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mr. Robert Earl "Peterbo" Bankhead and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
